The Exit Planning Institute projects that $10 trillion of business equity will change hands in the next 10 years, and most business owners and their families are woefully unprepared to capitalize on this enormous shift. In my practice, I notice that clients and prospects have limited knowledge of the necessary steps to successfully exit their business - placing the sale or transition in jeopardy, and potentially leaving significant wealth at risk. Furthermore, most have few if any relationships with experienced professionals who can guide them to a successful exit.

We Have a SolutionBlueprint for Entrepreneurial Growth (B4EG) will be launching Strategic Exit Planning Peer Groups in 2022, and we are looking to partner with other seasoned professionals in the exit planning industry to help guide business owners, share resources, and introduce clients to one another in the process. As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), and as a seasoned CEO peer group facilitator, Paul Wirth will lead these very unique groups to help business owners prepare their businesses and themselves for a successful exit or succession.

Here's How the Program Works
The program would be open to multiple sponsors from different fields within the exit planning process. To participate, each sponsor would be required to enroll just one or two business owners based on their areas of expertise.
- Groups would range in size between 6 and 12 business owners.
- The program would run 6 months with a total of 8 sessions.
- Sessions would range between 90 minutes and 2.5 hours depending on the topic presented and group interaction.
- Each sponsor would present an interactive 60± minute workshop based on their specialty in the exit process.
- There would be a Q&A session and an issues solving component for business owners to get answers to their unique situations.
- Business owners would have access to each Sponsor for follow-up, guidance, and possible engagement.
- Business owners would gain knowledge and industry contacts necessary ensure a more successful transition.
- Business owners would pay a fee to B4EG to participate in the program.
Your Role as a Sponsor
Each sponsor would select their own content and presentation method. However, the more interactive the workshop where business owners can roll up their sleeves, the better. We compiled a general list of suggestive topics below:
1. Readiness - Am I ready personally, financially, and businesswise to sell?
1. Valuation - How much is my business really worth? 2. Financial - Can I live my ideal life when I exit my business? 3. Value Acceleration - How do I sell my business at a premium? 4. Culture Fit - Who is the best buyer for my business? 5. Taxes - How much does Uncle Sam want?! 5. Philanthropy - How can I leave a legacy? 6. Underwriting - Will the buyer’s lender give a green light? 7. Legal - How do I protect myself legally? 7. Estate - How do I protect my wealth for generations? 8. Succession – How do I handle family, key executives and staff? 8. Post-Sale - Now what? |
Collaboration Drives Engagements
Most business owners spend 60 to 80 hours a week working in their businesses, and only an estimated 28% of them have done any exit planning. Add to those statistics, upwards of 75 percent of owners who transitioned their companies felt the sale did not accomplish their personal or financial objectives. It is understandable considering the complexities involved in the transition of a business as well as most not knowing who to turn to for guidance. B4EG is looking to change this dynamic by taking a holistic approach not only from the business owner’s perspective, but from working together with other professionals to provide clients with a unified team of skilled technicians who have a client's best interest at heart.
Our program will provide business owners with an in-depth understanding of the entire process. It will also provide sponsors an opportunity to deepen bonds with like-minded professionals while gaining access to prospective clients.
